HOUR ONE
Brand new Senator Nancy Greene Raine welcomed us to the Ice Wine Festival at Sun Peaks a year ago. We talk ice wine, 2010 Winter Olympics and how the big toe works on skis.
Two pals, Steven Page of Barenaked ladies and Jim Cuddy from Blue Rodeo. Both really know their wines and both travel enough that they can talk about new world and old world plus East and West in Canada. We get a verbal tour of Jim’s cellar.
Murray McLachlan, Marc Jordan, Cindy Church and Ian Thomas are solo artists and songwriters but when they get together they become – Lunch At Allen’s.
This is a fun segment talking about wine, but also about road food. And in this segment Vancouver’s Spirit of the West are honoured with a Hall of Fame Award at the Western Canadian Music Awards. I find them backstage waiting to go on and grill them mercilessly, like a Spanish Inquisition, about food and wine.
Adam Cohen is Leonard Cohen’s son. He’s also a gifted artist and songwriter.
Adam talks about his father’s work and then raves about the wines he’s drinking.
HOUR TWO
A two parter with Dan Aykroyd.
Part One, he talks about Belushi, SNL, Ghostbusters and also his winery in Niagara on the Lake. He’s a serious owner who wants to taste everything with his name on it.
Part Two has an additional guest. It’s my pal Jason Priestley and I having a conversation in the main square in Florence Italy, with bells ringing all through it.
I believe if you listen you can almost see the streets.
Cheech and Chong return for a second visit. The talk is about food, wine, jail, pot, the tour and how Cheech got so wine lucky. They started their act in Vancouver, so it’s a full circle interview. We follow that up with a quick sit down with Burton Cummings.
And finally, the Wine Diva, Daenna Van Mulligen, gives us 9 minutes and 21 seconds of Bubbly tips for your New Years Eve party.
Happy New Year - tdm
