Welcome to THE TASTING ROOM.
This weeks show takes us to a 2500 year old street in Spain, to Black Hills and Mt. Boucherie in BC Okanagan, to Edmonton, Nova Scotia and finally Blood Alley in Vancouver’s Gastown.

HOUR ONE

Our old pals from Spain, Wendy Vallester and her charming husband Javier Araruth spend 10 minutes with yours truly sitting on a sidewalk in an ancient Spanish town, dodging scooters and talking about - what else - Spanish wines and the history of the area 2 hrs North of Madrid
www.winesofspain.com

Robert Thielicke from Mt Boucherie outside Kelowna and Graham Pierce from Black Hills outside Oliver BC used to be cellar rats together. When Graham left MB to make the iconic Note Bene, Robert carried on. Today we compare notes!!!

Lots of info about both wineries.

Now to EDMONTON.

Gurvinder Bhatia owns and runs Vinomania on Jasper Ave. This is a wine lovers paradise. First thing you see is a 16 bottle Enomatic loaded with tasting bottles. Plus 24 under 24…bucks that is.
He’s also one of Edmonton’s prime wine experts. Have a listen. You’ll see why. www.vinomaniawines.com

And my pal Brian Welsh, who’s taught me so much about food and wine. He’s the GM of Ruth’s Chris steak house in Edmonton.
There’s so much we can learn from people like Brian. www.ruthschris.com

Hour Two

Wine Diva Daenna van Mulligen spent the evening with a room full of Italian men and tables filled with their wines. Wouldn’t you?? www.winediva.ca. We get an update on what’s coming from Italy and a quick report on California! www.winescores.ca

Two stories about Nova Scotia wines.

First is about investing in Nova Scotia wines.
Janice Ruddock from wines of Nova Scotia www.winesofnovascotia.ca
and Bruce Ewert from L’Acadie Vineyards give us the backgrounder. www.lacadievineyards.ca

Then Janice returns with Jean-Benoit Delaurier from Benjamin Bridge (keep an eye on this winery - can you say world class bubbly?)
Also on the phone is Gina Haverstock from Gaspereau Vineyards and finally writer Sean Wood - Wood on Wine - and we’re talking Nova Scotia ice wines and the future of the area. www.gaspereauwine.com

And finally Kurtis Kolt, the GM and wine director of Vancouver’s hot Salt Tasting Room, tells us why we should all walk down their street - one of Vancouver’s originals. It’s called Blood Alley. Lots of events ahead plus Kurtis has recommendations for your wine buying. www.salttastingroom.com
