WINE ROYALTY VISITS THE TASTING ROOM
Multiple interviews, some with wine royalty, make up this weeks show.

Hour One
We start with some great interviews remaining from the 30th Playhouse International Wine Festival in Vancouver.

Heidi Noble and Michael Dinn from Joie Wines, Naramata, BC, dropped by our studio on location at the Trade and Convention Centre. Subjects - what they had tasted at the Wine Fest and their upcoming trip to James Beard House in New York.

Then one of the most influential Canadian wine writers Beppi Crosariol from The Globe and Mail pays his first visit to Tasting Room Radio.

And a wack of bits and pieces, interviews that fell into our lap.

Anthony Von Mandel, Mission Hill Winery and Piero Antinori talk Italy and BC wines. Chef and restaurant owner Umberto Menghi, Justin Nugent from Australia’s Bird in Hand Winery, and Harry McWatters who explains his departure from Sumac Ridge Winery and his future plans. And we meet Terry Threlfall, the only Canadian Sommelier in London, from the world famous restaurant Chez Bruce.

Hour Two
Truly a gathering of wine and food royalty.

We begin at an exclusive tasting of Conche y Toro, the Chilean wine giant. Enrique Tirado, Chilean Winemaker of the Year, talks about his Don Melchor Wines, including the 97 he poured.

Then it’s the yearly gathering of the Primum Familiae Vini, comprised of some of the world’s most famous wine families, each sent a family member to pour. We interview Julian Rothschild, Alessia Antinori and Entienne Hugel.
Truly a special segment.

Then comes a gathering of the best that Vancouver has to offer, the Chef’s Table Society event, which took place Monday, March 10. An opportunity for chefs and sommeliers to spend down time with the growers and artisans who help create the menus we admire. Interviews with Vikram Vij , David Hawksworth, Rob Clark, Brent Hayman.

And, a bonus, at the end of the night, Steven Page from Bare Naked Ladies drops by.

And to wrap all this tribal gathering up and put it in perspective is Daenna Van Mulligen, www.winediva.ca. She’ll review the wines of Don Melchor and the Familiae.

There’s even room in this show for a surprise guest or two.
