Breaking Okanagan news from Jason Priestley, Spanish wine tips, Argentinean wines reviewed, Chilean Winemaker of the Year, some of Vancouver’s best Chefs and Sommeliers, California Food and Wine Symposium, a new restaurant in BC wine country - a very busy and informative show.
Hour One
An exclusive interview with actor, director, producer, Jason Priestley. He reveals for the first time publicly his involvement in a project that could bring a renewed interest in film and TV production in BC’s wine country.
Daenna Van Mulligen, www.winediva.ca, this week’s regular review feature with Ms. Diva fills us in on the new crop of Argentinean wines and on Pacific Breeze, a Vancouver winery that uses California grapes.
Wine expert John Clerides from Marquis Wine Cellars in Vancouver returns with lots of recommendations from his recent tasting trip through Spain.
Black Widow Winery is on the Naramata Bench in BC’s wine country, but problem is they never seem to be open, so we hid in the bush until owners Dick and Shona Lancaster showed up for Spring pruning. As a public service we will reveal how to find their hard-to-find wines. Here’s a hint…what are you doing May long weekend?
Hour Two
Enrique Tirado Santelices from Concha y Toro, the Chilean Winemaker of the Year, who is one of the best in the world, joins us. He makes the great Don Melchor wines that Robert Parker regularly gives 90 plus points. His Canadian host Werner Schonberger, VP of Select Wines Merchant Ltd., gives us an overview.
Chefs Table interviews, we finally find the room to include the last of the great interviews from this gathering of the best that Vancouver has to offer, which took place March 10. Rob Clark, Exec Chef of C, Brent Hayman, GM of Raincity Grill, and a great quick give and take with Sommeliers Curtis Colts, Salt Tasting Room; Neil Ingram, Boneta; and Brad Stanton, Elixer, join us.
Amante Bistro, Penticton, BC, is in the running for one of the best restaurants in BC’s wine country. We talk to Abul Adame and Rose Amante about their efforts to establish Amante Bistro, plus Abul takes us through a new menu of true Guadalajara food that’s only available for 12 days starting April 1.
And finally.
Karen Ross, President of California Wine Grape Growers, organizer of the California Food and Wine Symposium that drew 10,000 people in Sacramento, joins us. Find out if you’re one of the new wine consumers - the Millenials - who are putting wines sales through the roof.
