It’s been a nutty week.
I have been on an extended road trip that took me through Vancouver; then down to Seattle and Bellingham, Washington, in the US; and then to Calgary, Alberta, for Canada’s Music Awards, The Juno Awards, where I hosted my two hour music show Mulligan Stew on CKUA, one of the great radio stations on the planet.
So this edition of The Tasting Room reflects that journey.
Johannes Selbach, winemaker of the great German Reisling, is the feature interview. Yes we talk wine, but also why he loves eating in Vancouver.
Then we visit Pacific Breeze, the New Westminster, BC, winery that started as a group of amateur winemakers who got very good at winemaking.
The journey continues to the Purple Smile Wine Shop, Fairhaven, Washington, a beautiful fishing port South of Bellingham. An interview with the highly entertaining owner Jeff Wicklund. We talk Washington wines, consumer trends and his take on BC.
Barbara Jo’s Books, back in Vancouver, and we drop into one of the Top 10 Cook Book stores in the world, and talk to the lady herself, Barbara Jo.
Wine Diva Daenna Van Mulligen, www.winediva.ca, will be talking Italy as she’s just come back from tasting everything they make.
Sam Chan Hao, restaurateur, from Calgary, Alberta, is one crazy wine guy. He runs a Thai restaurant, but has perhaps the best small restaurant cellar in western Canada. He’s crazy for great wine and talks about it in a Bangkok minute. It helps that he’s funny.
Vancouver’s Doug and Diane Clement, who are totally connected to the sports world, are about to release a new book, Chef and the Doctor On the Run. I know they love their food and wine…and running.
Should be interesting.
I’m leaving room for late breaking news…so please tune in.
Hope you like it and thanks for all the comments.
Terry David Mulligan
