What a start to this week’s show!!!

While I was in Kelowna, I tracked down the esteemed judging panel for the annual Fall Wine Festival.

They had just finished tasting their way through over 500 wines and still couldn’t tell us who’d won. That info was embargoed.
However, talking wine with the likes of David Scholefield, Michelle Bouffard, Michaela Morris, Sid Cross, Janet Dorozynski, Jay Drysdale and Washington State’s Paul Gregutt was great fun.

We stay with the judges but this time it’s the annual Chef Meets Grape event in Vancouver. And instead of talking to the wine people in the big room, we sneak around the side door and sit in with the judges.

DJ Kearney

Neil Ingram

Andre Vescovi

Tim Pawsey

And to end hour one..it’s the Wine Diva Daenna Van Mulligen, who was also one of the judges at the Fall Wine Festival. www.winediva.ca

We talk about her experience..and because the awards have been handed out, she’s free to talk about the winning wines. She also reviews wines from the Okanagan and Salt Spring Island.

HOUR TWO

Had the opportunity to attend a Vancouver Canucks fundraiser for Special Olympics. Joining me in the tasting room and talking wine are:

John Shorthouse

Kevin Bieksa

Willie Mitchell

Daniel Sedin

Sammy Salo

And GM Mike Gillis

Wine on the Mountain 4 is a high flying party on top of Grouse Mountain Nov 7th. Giving us the info we need are:

Michael Bartier - Winemaker at Road 13 www.road13vineyards.com

Teresa Innes – Event Co-coordinator

Daniel Poncelet of Daniel A Chocolat Belge www.danielchocolates.com

Wine pairing with great chocolate and party highlights gives you info you can use.

Two Chefs and a Table.. I’ve been trying to hook up with these guys for months. www.twochefsandatable.com

They’ve taken over an old Sean Heather location at Gore and Alexander..one block east of Main..and it’s that one block that’s the story.

They’re the first restaurant to commit to what was once a murky area. They’ve turned on the lights and built themselves a very popular destination. Karl Gregg and Al Bozomworth put their butts and their money on the line to bring this old café back to life. Great food and a communal table..the future on dining in Vancouver? Perhaps..

And finally Actor/Comedian Tom Arnold on the phone from LA..Funny and straight up about his 20 years of sobriety!!

Sure we talk wine but we also talk about how much he likes coming to Canada..the wine based pills he takes for his ticker and yes his ex-wife!!

Enjoy!
