What June 7th brings to the Room…
Jason Priestley checks in from LA. He and I are about to shoot our next season of our wine TV series, Hollywood and Vines. We’ll talk about our upcoming visits to Nova Scotia and the Niagara region of Ontario.
We get on the phone with the artists who make Tantalus Riesling in the Okanagan, BC, Jane Hatch, Warrick Shaw and Winemaker Matt Holmes.
Sandra Oldfield, winemaker at Tinhorn Creek came to BC and the Okanagan many years ago after graduating from UC Davis in California. She’s the maker of a white and a red that will be released to celebrate Canada Day, July 1st. We will also get brought up to speed on which musicians are performing this year at Tinhorn Creek Winery in Oliver, BC. Sandra is also part of a large food and wine gathering in Edmonton, Alberta, on June 16th called Indulgence and we will talk to two chefs taking part
God’s Mountain is just that, a spectacular Mediterranean B&B overlooking Skaha Lake south of Penticton, BC. We sit down with the owner Sarah Allen and Chef Cam Smith, from Joy Road Catering, who serves a Sunday night dinner for 30 outside on the terrace, the kind of event that people talk about for years.
We drive down to Oliver, BC, along with fellow journalists and visit the Luckhursts at Golden Mile Winery, to find out why their wines are just so special. Its the terrior and the talent.
Frank Bonic is the winemaker at Organic One, Australia’s organic winery. He steps into my kitchen and reveals his passion for all things organic.
Darlene and Gil Hegel are partners of Valta Bison Farms in Alberta’s Peace Country. They are the meat of choice these days, especially at the Calgary Farmers Market where we chatted.
And Wine Diva, Daenna Van Mulligen, reviews the affordable wine of Argentina, now in stores.
