We talk about all of the above and yes, we do get to wine..and his favourite BC Pinot Noir.

Whistlers moment on the World stage is almost here..the 2010 Winter Olympics start in February and two of Whistlers best restaurants are ready for the ride..they better be. Its going to be WILD!!

Araxi has won every possible award by offering up world class food, wine and service..We sit down with Wine Director Samantha Rahn and Star Executive Chef James Walt to go over the menu and what to drink with what!!

There’s also a third interview right at the end with the suave restaurant Director and Sommelier Steve Edwards who fills us in on what it was like shooting Hell’s Kitchen. www.araxi.com

Then its off to one of my favourite restaurants..anywhere in the World, Trattoria di Umberto!! Eric Griffith is the Manager and Sommelier and Greg Garland the Executive Chef. Find out why their room is so popular, how they got ready for the Games and a food pairing battle royal!!

Daenna van Mulligen has the most popular wine review website in Canada..WineDiva.ca I asked her if she could recommend wines for the special time between Christmas and New Years Eve/Day at various price points. She delivered big time. Lots of information here.

HOUR TWO is spent on the Island of Maui, Hawaii!!

We start, where we should start, with one of the most famous chefs in the Islands Chef David Paul Johnson of David Paul’s Island Grill. In our two part interview the outspoken David Paul takes us through discovering Julia Child while watching TV in reform school and building a food Empire only to see it taken away from him.

After a 10 year stint off Island he’s back in Lahaina with a superb room and first class kitchen. We’ll find out what “Island Cuisine” is and what the future holds for him.

There’s also a Caesar salad recipe made with brussel sprouts..don’t miss it!! www.davidpaulsislandgrill.com

Then its off to Maui’s only winery - Tedechi and a chat with President Paula Hegele.

Our trip takes us just outside Ulapalakua Maui half way up the spectacular volcano known as Haleakala!! Great volcanic soil and big heat combine for interesting wines..however Paula explains that the vines are “confused” because there’s no Winter. Fun interview! www.mauiwine.com

Then we’re off to The Wine Corner West in Lahaina to speak with owner Gregory Brown and manager Richard Gilmore. Gregs store is in the surfing hot spot known as “jaws”… the town is Paia!! The stores are as different as the towns.

And finally we sit down with partner Skip Hildreth at Beach Bums Bar and Grill in Maalaea, between Lahaina and Kihei. Where big smoke rules the menu and NFL football starts on a Sunday at 8am. Oh..and one more thing…one of the most popular menu items is BBQ smoked SPAM!!! www.beachbumshawaii.com
