January 2, 2010
First show of 2010 includes two part interviews with Amanda Tapping (Stargate/Sanctuary) and someone claiming to be Eric McCormack (Will and Grace). The Wine Diva has her own two parter on the best Reds and Whites of 2009.
Hour Two features two of the most famous names in world wine Piero Antinori who lead the revolution to finally change the rules of Italian winemaking and the man who made the Napa Chardonnay at Chateau Montelena that beat the French in Paris in 1976 and fired the Shot Heard Round The World. Mike Grgich. Enjoy this one.
The SHOW
Amanda Tapping is a worker bee. After many years of starring in Stargate, instead of relaxing, she immediately begins working on a new series called Sanctuary which begins it’s first year screening on the Internet. It’s now entering it’s third year on the SyFy Channel. Just back from a promo trip to Paris we talk aliens, scifi fans, food, wine and her new project Sanctuary for Kids. www.sanctuaryforkids.org
Daenna Van Mulligen, The Wine Diva talks about her whites of the year in the first of two visits on this show.
Then Eric McCormack fills us in on Will and Grace, being a Canadian in LA, playing gay and how much he likes Okanagan wines. He’s one funny dude.
Hour Two
The Wine Diva returns with her Wineries of the Year. She visited each and every one and tasted her way through each and every portfolio. That’s why she has the most visited wine review website in Canada.
Piero Antonori not only leads one of Italys premier wineries but he also had the resolve to lead the long overdue changes in Italian winemaking. He begins the interview by telling us about his first childhood memory about wine. It involved the retreating Nazis shooting up his fathers wine barrels and rivers of wine flowing past his feet.
And finally - a repeat of one of my favourite interviews. Do yourself a favour. Google Mike Grgich and read his life story. He is simply one of the Worlds greatest winemakers. His Grgich-Hills Napa Chardonnay is the Gold standard but his version of The Paris Tasting of 1976 is priceless and charming. He beat the French in their own ballpark and changed winemaking.
Happy New Year!
