Elvis is in The Tasting Room. An exclusive visit with Elvis Costello. We head for Dallas, Texas as a guest in a Documentary about – DINNER. Andrew Morrison and jamie Maw talk new restaurants, The Wine Diva reviews Okanagan wines, We visit Ricardo’s North of Kelowna and end the show inside the Olympic Flame relay runners bus..
The SHOW
It all started with a phone call from Movie Critic and good friend Gary Cogill (WFAA) in Dallas.
He was shooting 5 consecutive nights, 12-14 guests at a communal table inside the house/kitchen of star chef Andrew Ormsby.
The 6 camera doc is called DINNER. 5 Nights. 5 dinners Its amazing what can happen over DINNER.
Four course dinners with a new chef each night. Ours was – The Man – Chef Dean Fearing (Fearings).
Our evening started with a glass of Mumm Napa and the rest of the wine came from Miner!!
This three part story begins and ends with travelling down the highway interviews with Host/Producer Gary Cogill and dinner interviews with Chefs Ormsby and Fearing plus Sommelier Halley Hamilton! What Fun!
Hour One ends with a visit to Ricardo’s just North of Kelowna, BC…on the road to Vernon.
There’s a fishing boat at the side of the road and that road leads down the hill to Ricardo’s Mediterranean Grill.
Ricardo Scebba and Sue Miller are a great team. Ricardo and his team work in a kitchen built for one and Sue is all front of house.
The place was jammed by the time we left..food was flying all over the room. It’s a great sight.
Even though we had a complete meal…Ricardo still insisted on sending us home with his standard pasta made with the Mother’s hand rolled meat balls.

Elvis Costello sits down for an exclusive interview with The Tasting Room. Both of us were stuck in West Vancouver recently after a storm had knocked down trees in Stanley Park. www.elviscostello.info
So we agreed to meet at The Red Door in the Village at Park Royal South. Big thanks to them for saving the day. www.reddoor.ca
We talk about his profile in Vancouver, his new family, his great new TV performance series Spectacle, how people treat him in his daily life and because he now doesn’t drink..a chat about food.
Daenna Van Mulligen, The Wine Diva, reviews the wines of Prospect, Dunham and Froese, Mission Hill, Van Westen, Hester Creek, Rustico and Burrowing Owl.
Now this is good info for those of you looking to discover a new wine.
Its another food edition of Morrison and Maw.
Food specialists Andrew Morrison (Scout Mag) and Jamie Maw (Go Go Magazine).
We’re talking about the great new restaurants in Vancouver and the explosion of restaurants in Chinatown.
Jamie will fill us in on the Ballet Kelowna Gala he’s organizing called Pirouette.
And finally..
The Olympic Flame relay team ran through Penticton, BC this week, I was asked to carry the flame and ride in the runners bus.
I turned on my recorder and captured comments from the flame runners..revealing and touching..and that’s how we leave you.
