The Gold Metal Plates does double duty as an event. It’s a culinary competition to find the Chef of the Year in Canada and raise funds for our Olympic athletes.
We talk to three of the chefs in competition:
JC Poirier -Chow
Quang Dang - C
Robert Belcham - Fuel

And we talk with Master Chef Daniel Boulud. The man behind the World Class Daniels restaurant in New York and the new force at Vancouver’s Lumiere restaurant.

, of Vij’s restaurant in Vancouver, talks about cooking with crickets.

Spirit of the West
, one of Canada’s finest bands celebrates 25 years together and gets a Hall of Fame Award. We also talk wine, of course.

A return visit from Michael Dinn and Heidi Noble from Joie Wines on BC’s Naramata Bench. They’ve either won or are nominated for a number of awards.
Heidi is not just a winemaker she’s Western Living Magazine’s Winemaker of the Year and Top 40 Foodie of the Year. Also Joie’s Noble Blend was named Best Automatic White Wine Under 25 bucks. AND Heidi’s book Menus from an Orchard Table is short listed for a 2008 Canadian Culinary Book Award.
We talk shop on a very busy crush pad.

Big event coming to Grouse Mtn overlooking Vancouver and site of the Winter Olympics.

Sandra Oldfield from Tinhorn Creek and Mike Mitchell from Figmint Restaurant are special guests.

And finally…Georg Riedel, talks glass and wine. His two favourite subjects.
