One of the highlights for Jason Priestley and myself while we were shooting year two on Hollywood and Vines TV in Spain was meeting young winemaker Daniel Ramos, just North and West of Madrid. He makes Zerberos Garnacha and 7 Navas, all from vines 40-90 years old. But there’s a problem in his “forgotten” wine region. Big co-ops are taking out the old vines with the help of Euro governments. PLUS he has a war on with a local shepherd who’s wiping out his plants.
Pierre Phillip, is the general manager of Les Vignerons de Buzet. Wine in Buzet traces itself back to Roman times. It’s an area between Toulouse and Bordeaux.
He makes 12 MILLION bottles of wine for a price point well below Haut Medoc.
His Canadian rep Pat Ellis joins in the conversation.
